Seaweeds: Studies show that a small daily dose of Kelp and Bladderwrack can be very effective toward safely reducing and preventing dental plaque and tartar in dogs and most other animals, and it’s so easy to use, just sprinkling a little Tartar X powder onto your pets food! So how does it work? Kelp and Bladderwrack contains a multitude of important trace minerals some of these support healthy teeth and gums. They also contain polysaccharides well known for their slimy, viscous properties. In studies, these polysaccharides have been shown to inhibit plaque and calculus formation. These polysaccharides also carry antibacterial activities to the mouth, creating a thin, coating of film on the teeth and gums that helps to protect and support healthy bacterial balances in the mouth. An over growth of bad oral bacteria are the cause of gum disease and their waste product is extremely acid causing erosion of the teeth's enamel. The bacterial waste can leak through the gums into the blood stream. This can cause arterial disease and significant damage to the heart and other organs if left untreated.
